Derek Fischer,
President / Electrical Controls Engineer
Originally from Stillwater, Minnesota, Derek Fischer attended the University of Wisconsin—Stout where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in automation. Prior to co-founding TCA, Derek interned at Andersen Window Corporation and was an Electrical Controls Engineer at Lake Region Manufacturing. During his eight year stay at Lake Region Manufacturing, he specified, designed and brought automation to life through his extensive experience in PLC, HMI, Motion Control and Machine Vision programming skills. Robert Tupa,
Vice President / Mechanical Engineer
Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Robert Tupa attended North Dakota State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. One year as a Manufacturing Engineer, he quickly realized his desire for machine design and changed positions to Design Engineer. For the following eight years, Robert was a Design Engineer at Lake Region Manufacturing. In that roll, he conceptualized, designed and implemented in-house automation equipment for the manufacture, testing and inspecting of medical devices. Proficient in mechanical design and 3D CAD, Robert revels in the challenge of a tough application. Advancing his design skills, Robert welcomed the opportunity to expand his experience into the machine vision arena while he integrated cameras, lighting and lenses in mechanical designs. Originally from South St. Paul, Minnesota, Jeff Beatty attended the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After an internship at ADC Telecommunications, and a brief position as a Manufacturing Engineer at Hutchinson Technology (HTI), Jeff shifted positions at HTI to software and controls. Two years later Jeff took a position at Boston Scientific as a Software/Controls engineer, where he remained for the next ten years. Proficient in Visual Basic .Net / Visual Basic 6 and various motion control platforms, Jeff enjoys programmatic puzzles, where his extensive debugging skills are put to the test. Originally born and raised in Mankato, MN, Jason still resides in the Minnesota River Valley area. After five years as a service technician in the coin operated amusement industry, Jason took on a controls engineering position at a local surface mount technology company. Over the next nine years, Jason utilized his knowledge of controls engineering to improve efficiencies and reliability of existing machines while working from the ground up to develop new equipment for the high speed tape and reel packaging industry. During his employment, Jason also took on the position of lead machine vision engineer and has experience with numerous brands of vision products. Now at TCA, Jason maintains his strong background in PLC, Motion and Vision applications and is enjoying opportunities to expand his knowledge in robotics to solve challenging applications for our customers. Originally from New Brighton, MN, Matt Lombardi knew from an early age that mechanical design would be a large part of his personal and professional life. His mechanical aptitude, built from tinkering with cars and motorcycles, lead him to a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State.
